Coleman Hutchison is an associate professor of English at the University of Texas at Austin. An expert in the literature and culture of the American Civil War and U.S. South, he is the author of Apples and Ashes: Literature, Nationalism, and the Confederate States of America (Georgia, 2012), the co-author of Writing About American Literature: A Guide for Students (Norton, 2014), the editor of A History of American Civil War Literature (Cambridge, 2015), and the co-editor of the Cambridge Companion to the Literature of the American Civil War & Reconstruction (Cambridge, 2022).
