Biography
Before joining the Department of History at UNC-Charlotte, Willie J. Griffin spent a year as an Assistant Professor of History at The Citadel Military College in Charleston, South Carolina, and several years as Staff Historian at The Levine Museum of the New South in Charlotte. His research interests include News Media History, Public and Intellectual History, Military and Labor History, Biography, and Charlotte’s Local History. Dr. Griffin is completing his book, "Come Out Fighting”: Trezzvant W. Anderson, the Black Press, and the Twentieth Century Black Struggle for Freedom in the “New South” (under Contract with Vanderbilt University Press).
