Biography


Shelli Casler-Failing, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Middle Grades and Secondary Mathematics Education in the Department of Middle Grades and Secondary Education at Georgia Southern University. Shelli taught in both P-12 and higher education settings with a combined nine years of classroom experience before becoming faculty at Georgia Southern University in 2017. In her time as a classroom teacher, Shelli coached a First LEGO League team for six years, led LEGO Robotics professional development workshops for teachers, and instructed numerous summer robotics camps. Shelli completed a bachelor’s in mathematics, a master’s in secondary education (concentration in mathematics), and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction (concentration in science and mathematics education) all from the University of Albany in New York, USA. Shelli focuses much of her research on teacher education, mathematics education, productive struggle, and integrating robotics technology into mathematics curriculum.
