Open Access Statement

Middle Grades Review (MGR) is a diamond open access journal published by Middle Grades Collaborative in partnership with the University of Vermont Press. This model promotes equity in scholarly communication by making all content free online to readers and authors.

MGR is free for readers. In fulfillment of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) definitions of open access, the full text of MGR articles may be read, downloaded, copied, distributed, printed, searched, linked to, or used for any lawful, noncommercial purpose without prior permission from the author or publisher. Readers are not required to register or pay to read MGR content, which is always made available online immediately, without an embargo period.

MGR is also free for authors. There are no article processing charges, submission charges, membership requirements, or fees to publish with us. Authors must sign an author agreement form, acknowledging and accepting digital publication under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0), prior to publication.

This free-of-charge, diamond open access publishing model is made possible through a partnership between the MGR Editorial Board, whose members volunteer their time and expertise, and the University of Vermont Press, which provides staffing and other production resources. All MGR content is born digital.
