Biography

Dr. Matt Chambers is an Assistant Research Scientist with the Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems at the University of Georgia. Matt’s research investigates novel approaches to managing flood risks through river reach and watershed-scale environmental restoration practices. His research also includes computational methods for assessing the hydrologic performance of stormwater infrastructure in coastal and upland communities, assessing the hydrodynamic and geomorphic response of dam retrofits, experimental assessments of stream restoration practices in upland and montane river networks, and quantification methods for the application of ecosystem services in infrastructure investment decision-making processes. He teaches thermodynamics for the University of Georgia's College of Engineering and holds engineering degrees from Georgia Tech and Stanford, with a PhD from the University of Georgia.
